ED’s questioning of Sonia Gandhi today, Congress will perform vigorously from Parliament to the road

ED Summons Sonia Gandhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing money laundering in a case related to the National Herald newspaper, will question Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday. Against this, the Congress has once again made a strategy of demonstration across the country including Delhi. Congress leaders will be seen protesting in Delhi from Parliament to the road.
Earlier in June, even during the ED’s interrogation of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress had accused the Modi government of political vendetta by holding a tremendous demonstration in Delhi, terming the allegations of money laundering as baseless. On Thursday, Congress MPs will protest inside and outside Parliament, while senior party leaders and workers will gather at the headquarters on Akbar Road and try to move towards the ED office.
Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot in Delhi’s performance
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will also participate in the demonstration in Delhi. Demonstrations will not be allowed during the ongoing Parliament session in view of the tight security arrangements in the New Delhi area. Because of this, Congress workers will hold a big protest near Raj Bhavan in Delhi.
All the state units have been instructed by the Congress leadership to protest outside the ED office or Raj Bhavans in their capital. All the big leaders of Congress are engaged in an exercise to make the demonstration vigorous. An important meeting of party leaders was held on Tuesday and Wednesday regarding this.
ED summons Sonia Gandhi
Earlier in mid-June, ED had questioned Rahul Gandhi for about 50 hours in about 5 days. Then Congress leaders and workers performed daily during which big leaders of the party made arrests. Sonia Gandhi was also summoned in June but citing ill health, she had sought a closer date. Now at the time of ED’s interrogation of Sonia Gandhi, once again the Congress will try to give this message by showing power, where the Modi government is unnecessarily troubling the Congress leadership.
What’s the matter?
The Congress party had given a loan of 90 crores to AJL, the company that published the National Herald newspaper, established in 1937, to get out of losses. Later, in lieu of this loan, AJL gave 99 percent of its shares to Young Indian Company. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi hold 38–38 percent shares in Young Indian Company. The ED is probing the money received in the account of Young Indian, including the shares of AJL received by Young Indian.
Before Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Pawan Bansal, Mallikarjun Kharge etc. have been questioned in this case. The Congress argues that its leaders helped AJL associated with the legacy of independence and under the rules under which the Young Indian Company is formed, shareholders cannot withdraw even a single rupee. In such a situation, the allegations of converting black money into white are baseless and politically motivated.
