Hathras Gangrape Case: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has criticized the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh regarding those reports. Yogi Adityanath (Yogi Aaditynath) on Sunday, claiming that the promise of providing jobs and houses to the family of the Hathras gang rape victim in 2020 has not been fulfilled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

In September 2020, a 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by four men in Hathras, UP. Two weeks after the incident, the girl died during treatment at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital and her body was allegedly forcibly cremated by the UP Police.

The pretense was about ‘save the daughter’
Gandhi on Sunday alleged on Twitter that the talk of ‘save daughters’ was just a pretense, in fact the BJP never shied away from doing injustice to daughters. Referring to the side of the Uttar Pradesh government written in the news, the Congress leader said that the brother of the Hathras victim is not a member of the family, so we will not give a job and a house. He said that even after two years, the process of torture continues with the victim’s family.

Why was the Hathras case in the news?
In September 2020, a Dalit 19-year-old girl was raped. The investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI. The administration was also accused of not handling the matter properly. Against the wishes of the girl’s family members, the girl’s body was forcibly burnt by pouring petrol without their presence. However, the administration and the government claimed that the girl’s body was cremated in the presence of her family.
