Sanjay Raut News: Sanjay Raut, arrested in connection with the alleged scam in the redevelopment of Patra Chawl in Mumbai, was sent to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till August 4. Shiv Sena leader Raut was arrested by the ED on Sunday night after a long interrogation. Opposition parties have reacted sharply to his arrest.

ED had sought custody for how many days?
The ED had produced Raut in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court and sought eight days’ custody. Special Public Prosecutor Hiten Venegaonkar, appearing for the ED, told the court that Raut and his family were the direct beneficiaries of the money earned from the crime. Senior advocate Ashok Mundargi, appearing for Raut, said the allegations were vague and were made out of political vendetta.

Arrested for irregularities of one crore rupees
The ED told the court that Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and his family have been arrested on charges of Rs 1 crore received from alleged irregularities in the redevelopment project of a ‘chawl’ in Mumbai. Special PMLA court judge MG Deshpande later sent the Shiv Sena leader to ED custody till August 4.
