Congress On Streets Against NDA Government: Congress party leaders are protesting on the streets against inflation and unemployment under the Modi government at the Center. Targeting the Congress, BJP leaders said that in the last eight years, the Congress did not remember inflation and unemployment. Demonstration against rising inflation in the country

On Friday, August 5, nationwide protests were held across the country on the call of the Congress. This demonstration was done in the Modi government against inflation, unemployment, bringing food items under the purview of GST. After this the police detained many leaders including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Congress leaders and workers made black clothes as their weapon of protest.

Congress MPs under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi marched from Parliament House to Rashtrapati Bhavan, but were detained on the way at New Police Lines Kingsway Camp. Because of this, the plan to encircle the Prime Minister’s residence, members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and senior party leaders did not succeed.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah called this demonstration of Congress leaders “appeasement” politics. He said that the Congress chose August 5 for the demonstration in black clothes because of the foundation stone of Ram Janmabhoomi. Shah claimed that the Enforcement Directorate-ED’s action and the issue of inflation are only excuses. In fact, the Congress has secretly tried to send a cryptic message to oppose the temple. Home Minister Shah’s statement Congress party general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that only people of ill mentality give such bogus arguments.

Congress’s Bharat Bandh in 2022 to protest against Agneepath scheme

In June 2022, the Congress had protested all over the country in protest against the Agnipath scheme brought for the army recruitment of the Central Government. Bharat Bandh was also announced on 20 June. was. Congress workers and leaders were also on protest in the country’s capital Delhi. Many effective Congress leaders sat on Satyagraha at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Along with this, Congress workers at many places in the capital of the country including Jantar Mantar Main Road, Connaught Place, ITO were demanding the return of this scheme carrying the tricolor flag.

Farmer movement of the year 2020-21

The Modi government brought three laws related to agriculture in September 2020. Farmers protested against this and in November 2020, farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh came to Delhi. Thousands of farmers who had camped on the border of Delhi remained adamant on the demand to withdraw these three laws. However, the central government kept talking about amendments on this.

Seeing no result, in the year 2021, the Supreme Court banned the implementation of these laws. Prime minister Narendra Modi On 19 November 2021, the farmers announced the cancellation of all three agricultural laws, and on 9 December, the farmers announced the withdrawal of the agitation.

Congress also stood against the central government in this movement of farmers. On 26 July 2021, MP Rahul Gandhi came out on a tractor on the streets of Delhi in the morning. He reached Parliament by this tractor. Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala, Deepender Hooda were also with him. During this, Congress leaders Surjewala and BV Srinivas were taken into custody.

Opposition to Congress in CAA-NRC 2019-20

The Modi government brought an amendment to the Citizenship Act (CAA) to give citizenship to minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. In this, a provision was made to give citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Christian and Parsi people of these three countries. This law was passed by Parliament in December 2019. There was a lot of opposition to this law. Due to this law, Shaheen Bagh became famous all over the world.

Even on this, the Congress had come down on a demonstration against the Modi government. On Monday 23 December 2019, the Congress party staged a sit-in at Rajghat in Delhi against the CAA. In this, along with Congress workers, many senior leaders including party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi were involved. For this, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had appealed to the people to reach Rajghat.

Support to the opposition of the year 2018 SC-ST Bill

On 20 March 2018, the Supreme Court gave its verdict regarding the SC-ST Act and banned the immediate arrest in the cases registered under this Act. However, later in view of the anger of the Dalit community, the Modi government decided to bring the SC-ST Act in its old form and for this the amended law was passed in the Parliament.

Against this act, there was a demonstration on 9 August 2018 at Jantar Mantar in protest against the SC-ST Bill. The then Congress President Rahul Gandhi had reached to support it. Then Rahul had called the Modi government at the Center anti-Dalit. He had said at that time that wherever in the country he would be called against injustice on Dalits. He will go there for support.

Opposition to Land Acquisition Ordinance 2015

In the year 2014, a few months after the Modi government came to the center, a new ordinance was issued for land acquisition. In this, the provision of approval of 80 percent farmers for land acquisition was abolished. The central government tried its best to pass it in Parliament, but it was not possible. The government tried several times to get this ordinance passed in Parliament but it could not be passed.

In protest against this, along with the farmers, the Congress party also took to the streets against the government. Then the Congress High Command had announced a simultaneous protest in the country on 12 March 2015 regarding the Land Acquisition Ordinance. On March 17, 2015, leaders of nine parties, including Congress, marched on foot from Parliament to hand over a memorandum to the President as part of the Congress’s road to Parliament protest over the Land Acquisition Bill. Finally, on 31 August 2015, the government approved this. Announced the withdrawal of the ordinance.
