Congress On GST: The Congress on Friday claimed that 18 per cent GST has also been levied on the rent of residential property and said that this is the “real black magic”. On the other hand, the government has said that GST is not applicable on residential units which are let out for personal use.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Mudit Aggrawal tweeted and claimed that 18 per cent GST would be levied on letting a residential property on rent. Retweeting this tweet of Agarwal, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that it is ‘real black magic’ after imposition of ‘unreasonable’ GST on food items.
It’s true. Any tenant who has a GST registration already has to pay 18% GST on even residential rent as a reverse charge which mean the tenant has to pay and not the landlord @Jairam_Ramesh https://t.co/mvPrbRcClk
