Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) manufactures this single-engine fighter jet. Apart from America, Argentina, Australia, Egypt, Indonesia and Philippines have also shown interest in buying it.
Tejas will roar in the sky of the world
The Government of India is trying to reduce India’s dependence on foreign defense equipment. At the same time, now it is in a position to sell many military weapons from fighter aircraft. India has offered to sell 18 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) “Tejas” to Malaysia. The Defense Ministry recently said that Argentina, Australia, Egypt, the US, Indonesia and the Philippines are also interested in single-engine jets. The government last year awarded a contract for 83 locally produced Tejas jets to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for delivery around 2023.
The specialty and strength of Tejas?
About 50 percent of the parts of India’s light combat aircraft ‘Tejas’ are made in India itself. Israel’s EL / M-2052 radar equipped with modern technology has been installed in this fighter jet. This fighter aircraft is capable of tracking and attacking 10 targets simultaneously. This aircraft can takeoff on the runway with a very small area. The weight of this fighter jet is 6500 kg. 6 types of missiles can be deployed in it. Laser guided bombs and cluster weapons can also be installed.
Flying up to 3000 km in one go
A self-protection jammer has also been provided in Tejas, which helps in protecting the jet from attack. This fighter jet can fly up to 3000 km at a time. The advanced version of this aircraft ‘Tejas Mark-2’ is capable of flying at an altitude of more than 56 thousand feet. Preparations for the induction of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) in the Indian Air Force fleet started in 1983. It was considered as a better alternative to the Russian fighter MiG-21. For the first time in the year 2001, Tejas made India’s chest proud by flying in the sky. This achievement has become even bigger when India is in a position to sell this aircraft to other countries.
