Former BJP minister and now Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya has said that he will soon file a defamation case against the Noida Police Commissioner, who had announced that he (Maurya) self-styled the case without investigating the matter. A VIP car pass was provided to the leader Shrikant Tyagi. Maurya said, the police commissioner has taken my name without investigation. I will file a defamation claim against the police commissioner. It is not Shrikant Tyagi, but the Commissioner of Police, who has named me in the case. He further alleged that ever since his support base has increased, the BJP is scared and that is the reason why his name is being raised again and again.

Srikant Tyagi, who was arrested on Tuesday for abusing and manhandling a woman in Noida, was seen pasting a sticker on his vehicle, falsely identifying him as an MLA. During interrogation, he allegedly revealed that the sticker on his car was provided by Swami Prasad Maurya. Tyagi describes himself as a BJP leader, after which the ruling BJP is also being cornered. Swami Prasad Maurya had earlier strongly denied Tyagi’s allegations. He accused the BJP of misleading the people with lies and deceit.

Maurya, who is a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, said he had last met Tyagi in 2017. At that time, Tyagi had projected himself as a BJP leader. Maurya said that since then there has been no contact between him and the self-styled BJP worker. He alleged, “I have not met him for the last four years. Why is BJP repeatedly saying that I am associated with them? He has a photo with many BJP bigwigs. Now that they are exposed to the public, they are blaming others.

Maurya was a minister in the previous BJP government in the state. He had quit the BJP earlier this year before the assembly elections and joined the Samajwadi Party. He claimed that there was a conspiracy to defame him. Maurya claimed, Srikanth had more than half a dozen security personnel. This is not possible without the grace of the BJP government. Today, when action is being taken against him, he is taking the name of Swami Prasad Maurya under a well-planned conspiracy.

Noida Police on Tuesday arrested Shrikant Tyagi, who identified himself on social media as a national executive member of BJP’s Kisan Morcha, along with three others in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district. After his arrest, Tyagi was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. He was booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code after he was seen in a video abusing and assaulting a woman for objecting to her alleged illegal construction in a housing society in Noida.
