Shrikant Tyagi’s swagger, said while going to jail- ‘I regret the incident, she is like my sister’

Shrikant Tyagi Arrested: On Tuesday, the accused Shrikant Tyagi, who was absconding in the Grand Omaxe Society of Noida, was arrested by the police in the case of indecency with the woman. The accused was produced in a local court from where he has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. While being taken from the court, Shrikant Tyagi expressed regret over the incident and described the woman as his sister.

Shrikant Tyagi said, “I regret the incident. She is like my sister. This incident is political and everything has been done to defame me politically.” Police Commissioner Alok Singh said that Shrikant Tyagi (34) was arrested by the Noida Police from Meerut on Tuesday. Along with Tyagi, three of his associates have also been arrested. He said that all the accused were produced in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district court this evening, from where they were sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

MLA’s sticker was put on the car

Singh said that Tyagi had misrepresented his identity by putting an MLA sticker on a car and this sticker was given to him by Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya. He said, “Tyagi has been an associate of Maurya and these stickers were given to him by Swami Prasad Maurya. Police have seized five cars of Tyagi. He had also bought special number plates for his vehicles and for each number Tyagi had paid Rs 1.10 lakh.”

Intense questioning of Shrikant Tyagi continues

Swami Prasad Maurya, who was a minister in the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the state, had quit the party earlier this year just before the assembly and joined the SP. Presently, he is a member of the State Legislative Council from SP. The Commissioner of Police said that Shrikant Tyagi is being interrogated intensively, information is also being obtained about who gave shelter to him during his absconding.

25 thousand reward was kept

He told that during interrogation some important information has been received from Tyagi, on the basis of which the police will take further action. Earlier, the Noida Police had declared Tyagi an absconder and also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on him. After which Tyagi filed a petition related to surrender in a court in Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

Video of indecency went viral

It is noteworthy that a woman residing in the Grand Omaxe Society located in Sector 93-B had objected to Srikant Tyagi planting some trees, citing violation of rules in the society, after which Tyagi allegedly assaulted the woman. Behaved abusively and even pushed them. A video of the incident was posted on social media. Shrikant Tyagi had described himself as the leader of BJP while the party has kept distance from him. The opposition parties have targeted the BJP regarding the matter. Opposition parties have also shared purported photographs of Tyagi with BJP national president JP Nadda and other senior party leaders.
