Police told reports of use of force on Muharram procession in Shrigar as Fake News

Jammu And Kashmir Police: The Srinagar Police has given its clarification on the media reports regarding the restrictions imposed regarding Muharram processions in Jammu and Kashmir. In one of its tweets, the police said that some news is being circulated from outside the country using old pictures about Muharram. It is being said in these reports that the police have used force for the Muharram procession.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police clarified that these reports being spread with a specific agenda are completely false and are being spread with a specific purpose. The police have not used any kind of force regarding Muharram.
Some fake news are being circulated by vested interests about yesterday’s muharram by using old pics & sharing them with oblivious media outside kashmir. It is again categorically told that no force was used to regulate one muharram route yesterday (banned since many decades)1/2

Action will be taken against those spreading fake news
Police said that Muharram processions are being taken out peacefully across Srinagar. Police said that due to law and order, only two routes have not been allowed to take out the procession. The police will take action against the people spreading these news under a special agenda.
Earlier, police officials said that restrictions have been imposed on the movement and assembly of people in many areas of the city. Restrictions have been imposed to maintain law and order on the eighth day of Muharram, he said.
Security forces deployed to avoid untoward incident
Officials said that security forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident. Referring to the incident of violence in the past, the District Magistrate of Srinagar said that keeping in mind the public interest and the safety of citizens, the law and order situation is the first priority of the government.
