Assam Chief Minister Himanata Biswa Sarma made an interesting announcement of putting up a signboard in front of every Orunodoi beneficiary’s house during a speech in the state’s Udalguri district on Tuesday. The move is taken to eliminate fraud while applying for the scheme.
“We will place a signboard in front of the house of every beneficiary saying ‘Orunodoi family’. With this, the rich families who have mistakenly acquired the benefits of the scheme can give it up out of embarrassment,” Sarma said.
Sarma also announced an increment of Rs 250 to the existing monetary benefit of Rs 1,000 of the scheme. He also mentioned that 6,000 new families will also be brought under the ambit of the Orunodoi scheme.
Initiated in 2020, the Orunodoi scheme provides financial assistance to women living below the poverty line.
