Father died at the age of 13

This path was not so easy for Manisha Rupeta. Even though he has achieved this feat after passing the Sindh Civil Service examination and undergoing training. He had to go through a lot of struggle to achieve this. Manisha’s father, a resident of Jakubabad, a small and backward district, died when she was 13 years old. After the death of the father, his mother showed courage and came to Karachi for the better future of her five children.

Recalling her days of struggle, Manisha says that girls were not allowed to read and write at their own pace in Jakubabad. If one had to study, he was allowed to study only medicine. Manisha told that her three sisters are MBBS doctors, while her only and younger brother is also studying Medical Management.

Like the sisters, Manisha also took the MBBS examination, but she could not pass the examination due to a low number. After this she took the degree of Doctor of Physical Therapy, but she liked the police uniform very much, so she secretly used to prepare for the Sindh Public Service Commission examination without informing anyone. Due to this hard work, he not only got success in the Public Service Commission examination but also brought 16th rank.

Seeing the condition of women, chose the police uniform

Manisha told that in Pakistan I used to see that generally women do not go inside police stations and courts. The women who come here come with the men. Seeing this, I felt that the notion should be changed that girls from good families do not go to the police station. The police profession always attracted and inspired me. I have always felt that this profession makes the position of women more empowered.”

training was tough

Manisha told news agency BBC, “I believe that most of the victims are women, so there should be women to protect them too. That’s the inspiration I always wanted to be a part of the police force.” Manisha has taken training in Lyari, the most difficult area of ​​Karachi. Manisha is the first woman to become an officer in the police department in this area.

He took training under the supervision of ASP Atif Amir. Amir believes that increasing the number of women police officers will help in changing the image of the police department. “This will give us an opportunity to erase the anti-human image of the police. Police officers like Manisha will help in building a good image of the police in the society.”

Women police officers are necessary

“If an eyewitness to a crime is a woman, she is reluctant to appear as a witness,” says Amir. She does not want to be a part of the legal process, as she has to face repeated inquiries from police officers. If there are more women police officers then the situation may change.

To this, Manisha said, “In a patriarchal society, men think that only men can do this work. This may be a thinking approach, but in the coming few years these people will back their point and may that the daughter of any of them started working in the police department.”

Apart from her job, Manisha also teaches in an academy preparing for the Public Service Commission exam. She said about this, “It is very motivating for me, because I feel that my guidance can help some girls to move forward.” Manisha believes that police is a service that goes beyond gender and religion.
