Jose Mourinho on Being Title contender or not

Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho will not tolerate never “be considered candidates for the title” despite being two points behind the leader of the Premier League after Everton’s victory at Burnley on Monday. Spurs fans could be forgiven for thinking of another way after a 1-0 win at Turf Moor raspy took them to fifth in the table. They are also the top scorers in the league with 16 goals in six games. Although considered a member of the ‘Big Six’ Spurs have not won a trophy since the League Cup in 2008, and its last league title came in 1961.

Mourinho’s predecessor Mauricio Pochettino gave them hope with their development of young players and took them to the final of the Champions League and finish among the three on three occasions.

The fact Pochettino to deliver silverware perhaps lends itself to experienced defender caution Mourinho.

“We never consider candidates for the title,” Mourinho said.

Harry Kane agreed to the extent that it is too early to talk about a fight for the title in a season that has offered several surprising results. Spurs have provided a pair of them hammering Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford and then blowing a 3-0 over West Ham, held 3-3. However, the 27-year-old England striker is optimistic about the future with the current squad.

Key to the vitality of the Spurs has been understanding Kane with Heung-Min of South Korea, the old configuration for this last winner.

Kane has already broken his personal record for assists in the Premier League season with eight point eight made the Son goal of the campaign. Kane and now have combined for 29 goals in the Premier League – but Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard managed more with 36.
