Dog Bite Cases Update: Dog bite cases are increasing continuously in the country. Till July 22 this year, 14,50,666 cases of dog bites have been reported in the country. In this, the maximum number of dog bite cases have been reported in Tamil Nadu, 2,51,510. Maharashtra has the highest number of dog bite cases after Tamil Nadu. In Maharashtra, 2,31,531 people have been bitten by dogs. At the same time, 1,15,241 cases have been reported in Andhra Pradesh and 1,33,653 in West Bengal.
In this list, the least number of 205 cases have been found in Andaman and Nicobar, while no data has been given for Lakshadweep. In view of the dog bite cases in the country, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Purshottam Rupala told in the Parliament that the government is running the National Rabies Control Program.
Stray animals also increased tension
Apart from dog bite, stray animals are also becoming a big problem in the country. The figures from 2019 to 2022 were presented in the Lok Sabha, in which it was told that in these four years, about 1.5 crore people were bitten by stray animals. In these four years, 2019 saw the highest number of stray animal bites. In 2019, more than 72 lakh people were hunted by stray animals.
In the year 2020, 46 lakh people were bitten by stray animals, in 2021 17 lakh and in 2022 (by July) 14 lakh people were bitten by stray animals. In the year 2022, the highest number of cases of stray animals have been reported from Tamil Nadu, where about 2.5 lakh people were bitten by stray animals. At the same time, in 2022, 133653 cases were reported in West Bengal, 231531 in Maharashtra, 115241 in Arunachal Pradesh, 95352 in Karnataka. In 2019, 328096 cases were reported in Bihar, 480424 in Gujarat, 312216 in Karnataka, 625193 in Maharashtra, 836329 in Tamil Nadu and 450558 in Rajasthan.
