National Medical Commission told the Supreme Court

Let us tell you that yesterday on July 28, the National Medical Commission told the Supreme Court that those students of the final year of medical, who have returned to India due to Kovid and Russo-Ukraine war and who have been notified will be allowed to appear in the FMG examination. The National Medical Commission (NMC), in an affidavit on June 23, said that on passing the Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) examination, such foreign medical graduates would be required to undergo Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) for two years instead of the existing one year norm. The commission said that foreign medical graduates would be eligible for registration only after completing CRMI for two years. The NMC affidavit states that the duration of internship for clinical training has been doubled.

Supreme Court had given this decision

The Supreme Court on April 29 asked the commission to prepare a plan in two months to allow MBBS students affected by the Russo-Ukraine war and pandemic to complete their clinical training in medical colleges here as a one-time measure. was instructed.

NMC said this in the affidavit

The NMC said in the affidavit that after the April 29 decision, its Board of Graduate Medical Education (UGMEB) discussed and deliberated on the matter relating to foreign medical graduates in its various meetings.

During deliberations between the members of UGMEB, officials of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of External Affairs, it was informed that 20,672 Indian students are enrolled in various medical colleges and universities of Ukraine, who are taking online classes. degree obtained on the date of notification. These include students who have returned from China due to Kovid-19.
