DGCA New Guidelines: DGCA alerted after the incident of Go First and SpiceJet, issued these instructions

New Guidelines For Airports: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Saturday issued guidelines on regular patrolling and any wildlife activity to prevent incidents of birds and other creatures hitting planes at airports across the country. The pilots were asked to inform. There have been several incidents of birds colliding with planes in the past few weeks. On August 4 also, a GoFirst airline flight took off for Chandigarh but had to return to Ahmedabad airport after hitting a bird.
Earlier on June 19, after taking off from Patna to Delhi, the engine of SpiceJet’s aircraft caught fire and the plane carrying 184 passengers made an emergency landing a few minutes later. Actually the engine was damaged due to the collision of a bird with the plane.
Gofirst’s plane was narrowly saved
In the last few months, there have been many incidents when birds collided with flying planes. On August 4 also, a GoFirst airline flight took off for Chandigarh but had to return to Ahmedabad airport after hitting a bird.
Strict instructions at the airport
The DGCA said in its circular issued on Saturday that all airport operators have been requested to review their Wildlife Risk Management program to find out the shortcomings. It has been asked to strictly follow this guideline in and around any airport. The DGCA has asked airport operators to conduct a wildlife risk assessment. Apart from this, regular patrolling has also been asked.
