[ad_1]
Article 370 Abrogation: Amarnath Yatra suddenly stopped, J&K leaders put under house arrest, internet services suspended, curfew imposed and several companies of CRPF deployed in the Valley… Just before 5th August 2019 If all this was done by the central government, no one had the slightest idea what was going to happen. People started making different types of speculations, some people saw it as a big terrorist attack and some were claiming something big in Kashmir. No one had the slightest idea that the script of this entire movement would be read in the Parliament House of Delhi.
When Home Minister Amit Shah announced
As soon as Amit Shah came to Parliament on 5 August 2019, his attitude was different. As soon as the mention of Kashmir started, he stood up and announced that the government has decided to remove Article 370 from Kashmir. With this announcement, all the opposition MPs present in Parliament and people across the country were shocked. No one had any idea that the government was going to take a big decision like removing Article 370.
As soon as Amit Shah made this announcement, the opposition MPs started protesting about it, during which Amit Shah also started mentioning PoK. He said in a loud voice that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India … PoK also comes in the border of Kashmir, will give life for this … When the opposition said that after such a big decision in Kashmir, the situation may worsen. So Amit Shah replied that all preparations have been made for this.
‘Article 370’ was on BJP’s agenda
BJP sitting mostly in opposition Narendra Modi In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of Mr. After this, all the big and controversial decisions were taken by the Modi government. There was a buzz about Article 370, but everyone was thinking that BJP cannot take such a big decision as soon as the government is formed. This is what happened and in five years the BJP did not mention much about it. But every time this issue was being given a prominent place in the BJP manifesto. Because this issue was not new to the BJP, it was included in the main agenda of the party since the Jan Sangh era.
After this the year 2019 came, once again the Lok Sabha elections were held and the opposition made full efforts to fight against the Modi government, but this time the BJP returned to power with a thumping majority. This majority was much more than in 2014. BJP alone captured 303 seats in the Lok Sabha. It is said that from here the work of hammering the nail in the coffin of Article 370 had started.
Preparation started after victory in 2019
After the victory in the elections, there was a grand swearing-in of the Modi government. In June 2019, the stir regarding Kashmir started when the Modi government, who was joint secretary in the PMO and sent BVR Subramaniam, who ran a special operation against Naxalites, as the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. Although everyone considered it a routine change, in July, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also visited Kashmir, where he took stock of security for three days. Doval’s visit was considered very important.
After this news came that about 100 companies of CRPF are being deployed in Kashmir. This was also described as a step being taken as a precaution. But when the guideline was issued to bring back the Amarnath pilgrims, everyone’s ears were raised, everyone started feeling that now something big is going to happen. The government called it a step being taken regarding the terrorist attack.
Suspense remained till the end
After this, till the evening of 4 August, all the Kashmiri leaders including former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah were placed under house arrest. There was a stir in the media about this and all kinds of speculations started being made. But the talk of abrogation of Article 370 did not leak. This is because only three or four people were aware of this. Home Minister Amit Shah kept this top secret and kept the suspense till the last moment. The abolition of Article 370 was announced in the Parliament on the morning of 5 August and this decision of the government was welcomed by most of the people. This is the reason that even today in big election rallies, BJP leaders mention it and call it their big achievement.
The situation in Kashmir after the abrogation of 370
After the abrogation of Article 370, a complete lockdown was imposed in Kashmir. Every street and intersection was guarded by security forces. Also, all the big and small leaders were either under house arrest or were put in jail. All this went on for about 1 year. The opposition kept accusing that human rights are being violated in Kashmir, people’s life has become like a prison. It was also criticized by foreign organizations. After about a year and a half, the security was gradually reduced in Kashmir and people started getting facilities like internet. With this, the release of the leaders of Kashmir also started.
At present, three years have passed since Article 370 was abolished, but there is not much change being seen in Kashmir. The government had claimed that after this decision, only the picture of Kashmir would change. But at the moment nothing like this seems to be happening, there has been no significant reduction in terrorist incidents. At the same time, terrorists are continuously killing targets. The exodus of migrant people from Kashmir continues. The leaders of Kashmir are continuously demanding elections, but at present no indication has been given by the government regarding this.
That is, overall, the life of the people of Kashmir still looks as difficult as it used to be. The people living there hope that after the elections, the situation will be stable and they will be able to live their life freely like the rest of the country, as well as the future of their children will also be better.
