Congress’s demonstration against inflation, unemployment, many leaders including Rahul-Priyanka were detained

Congress Protest Over Inflation: Congress on Friday protested against inflation, unemployment and bringing many food items under the purview of GST, after which several leaders including former party president Rahul Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were taken into custody. The leaders who participated in the party’s demonstration were wearing black clothes. Congress MPs led by Rahul Gandhi took out a march from Parliament House to Rashtrapati Bhavan. However, the police stopped him midway and took him into custody.

The police detained these leaders at the New Police Lines Kingsway Camp. The Congress had announced a nationwide protest on Friday against inflation and unemployment. Under this, Congress Working Committee (CWC) members and senior party leaders had a plan to ‘gherao’ the Prime Minister’s residence. Many party leaders and workers had gathered at the Congress headquarters for this.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also reached the Congress headquarters at ’24 Akbar Road’ to attend the gherao program of the Prime Minister’s residence, from where she was taken into custody.

Slogans by Congress workers against PM Modi

Dressed in a black salwar-kameez and dupatta, Priyanka crossed the barricades put up by the police in front of the party headquarters and reached the other side and sat on a dharna on the road. After some time the police took him into custody. During this, Congress workers made Prime Minister Narendra Modi And shouted slogans against the government. Congress President Sonia Gandhi also joined it briefly before the march of party MPs started from the Parliament House. Before being taken into custody, Rahul Gandhi alleged that democracy was being murdered in the country.

Rahul Priyanka accuses the government

Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “This dictatorial government is scared. From the condition of India, from inflation and historical unemployment, from the ruin brought by its policies. The one who is afraid of the truth threatens those who raise their voice.” Priyanka alleged, “There is so much inflation that everyone is suffering. Modi ji sold the property of the whole country. Two or four people are getting richer, while the whole country is suffering. He (Minister) does not see inflation because he has money only.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “Today once again Congress MPs were denied the democratic right to protest against inflation, unemployment and GST. We were packed into the police van at Vijay Chowk. One thing is clear, only those who are afraid try to scare.

Ramesh claimed, “For the last three months, ever since the Congress President has announced ‘Bharat Jodo’ Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Threat-GV has unleashed vengeance and fear against the Congress party and our leaders. Toxic politics has intensified. It’s not just a coincidence.”
