Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Letter to Mamata Banerjee: Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has demanded the removal of Minister Partha Chatterjee, accused in the alleged teacher recruitment scam of West Bengal. In this regard, he has written a letter to Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has urged CM Mamata Banerjee to sack Partha Chatterjee immediately.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury wrote in a letter to CM Mamta, “Parth Chatterjee, who currently holds the Department of Industrial State Parliamentary Affairs under your government. He was the Education Minister from 2014 to 2021, during which there were alleged irregularities in teacher recruitment. This teacher recruitment scam was an open secret and everyone in Bengal knew about it. It was only after the intervention of the court that the investigating agencies started taking action on it. This is a big blot on the West Bengal government. I urge you to immediately sack Partha Chatterjee from the post of minister.”
At the same time, two days after the arrest of State Industries and Commerce Minister Partha Chatterjee in the School Service Commission recruitment scam, CM Mamata Banerjee broke her silence yesterday and said that an attempt has been made to defame her. CM Mamta said, “If someone is a thief, then the Trinamool Congress does not care about that person. I have arrested my (party) boys. I have not spared my own MLAs, MPs and minister if they do something wrong but if you try to defame my name then remember that I also carry bitumen. CM Mamta said in a program that her government is not intentionally involved in any wrongdoing and the investigation should be completed in a time bound manner. The Trinamool Congress has not defended Chatterjee, the party’s general secretary.
ED custody of Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee till this date
Partha Chatterjee was arrested on 23 July by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the teacher recruitment scam. The ED has seized cash and jewelery worth Rs 21 crore from the house of Chatterjee’s close aide Arpita Mukherjee. Arpita is also on ED remand till August 3 along with Chatterjee. Reacting to the chief minister’s comments, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Suvendu Adhikari said that while trying to distance herself from Chatterjee, Banerjee had also exposed the way her government was functioning when she said that One has to give jobs to his own people.
Let us inform that Partha Chatterjee was admitted to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata citing ill health, but the ED said that he was making excuses. Following the court’s order on this, Chatterjee’s medical examination was conducted at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. AIIMS said that the leader need not be admitted, whatever problems he is facing are due to chronic disease but not serious. On this, the court has sent him to ED custody till August 3.
