Pinarayi Vijayan On ED: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly criticized the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He said the ED took action against the ‘Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board’ (KIIFB) for sabotaging development initiatives and obstructing the progress of the state.
KIIFB is the primary agency of the state government for funding large and important infrastructure projects. Speaking at a party function here, Vijayan said development programs are being implemented in the state through funds received from KIIFB.

Pinarayi Vijayan said KIIFB must be dismantled if development is to be halted in the southern state and that the recent move against the agency is aimed at that. “There is no need to introduce anyone to the ED now,” he said after inaugurating the party’s new area committee office in the district. The ED recently arrested former state finance minister T.M. Thomas Isaacs in connection with the investigation into alleged breaches in financial transactions of KIIFB. In view of this, Vijayan made this statement. He said that when the Left government revived KIIFB, the opposition mocked it by calling it a daydream.
Rs 62,000 crore collected through agency: Pinarayi Vijayan
Vijayan said that when it was said that Rs 50,000 crore would be collected through KIIFB, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) opposed it but five years later Rs 62,000 crore was collected through the agency. . He said that now the ED’s effort is to destroy KIIFB. He alleged that the opposition Congress and BJP were working in unison to hamper the development of Kerala. He questioned whether the Center was planning to develop the country except in the southern state.
