BJP stops appointment of accused of Paresh Mesta murder case in Waqf Board

[ad_1]
Digital Desk, Bangalore. The BJP-led Karnataka government on Friday banned the appointment of Paresh Mesta murder accused to the Waqf Board as party workers and Hindu organizations condemned the move. Party workers and Hindu activists condemned the order to give the post of Deputy Chairman of District Waqf Board to Jamal Azad Annigeri. Jamal has been named as the prime accused in the murder of Paresh Mesta, a young Hindu activist. Jamal was arrested and released on bail. At present, the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) is investigating the case.
The government has stayed the appointment till further orders, saying that this order has been given in the background of public grievances. The party was already facing protests following the death of BJP Yuva Morcha worker Praveen Kumar Nettare. The BJP, which has projected the Paresh Mesta massacre as an attack on Hindus and made it an election issue in the state, especially in Uttara Kannada district, managed to win the elections.
In fact, party workers and Hindu activists had condemned the BJP, saying that the party, which came to power by making Paresh’s murder a big issue, has now nominated the main accused in this case and given a post in the Waqf Board. Where is the morality of BJP? Social media is flooded with messages ridiculing the BJP as a champion of Hindus.
Paresh went missing after an incident of mob violence in Honnavar town on December 6, 2017. After two days, his body was found near a lake. It was alleged that Paresh had died in mob violence and the assailants later dumped the body. The BJP, which was in opposition at that time, raised the issue at the state level and staged protests across the state. The incident of murder had led to large-scale violence in Honnavar, Kumta and Sirsi towns. The BJP and Paresh’s family demanded a CBI probe into the murder case and then the Congress government handed over the case to the CBI.
