Partition Horrors Remembrance Day: Remembering the pain of the partition of the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ today i.e. on August 14. During this, BJP organized a silent march across the country. In Delhi, party’s national president JP Nadda along with Union ministers Anurag Thakur, Piyush Goyal and other BJP leaders took part in a silent march on the occasion of ‘Partition Vibhisika Memorial Day’.
Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnav, G Kishan Reddy and Arjun Ram Meghwal also participated in this silent march. On this day, BJP has also planned to organize exhibitions at various offices and other places from August 12 to 14. Prime minister Narendra Modi India is celebrating Partition Commemoration Day for the first time after it was announced by the government during its Independence Day speech last year.
PM Modi also paid tribute
PM Modi also paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the communal riots during the partition of the country. He also appreciated the patience shown by the partition victims. The Prime Minister tweeted, “Today on ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’, I pay homage to all those who lost their lives during Partition, and pray for the patience of all those who suffered during that tragic period of our history. I appreciate it.” In his last year’s Independence Day speech, PM Modi had announced to celebrate 14 August as “Bhijan Vibhishika Memorial Day”.
UP CM expresses condolences
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute to those who lost their lives during Partition and expressed condolences to their families. He wrote on Twitter, “Lakhs of innocent civilians lost their lives and crores of citizens suffered inhuman pain during the sad Partition of India due to the destructive religious mindset. Today, Humble tributes to the martyrs who were martyred on ‘Partition Vibhisika Memorial Day’. My condolences to the family members.”
Significantly, after getting independence from the British, the country was partitioned in 1947. Then a new country Pakistan with Muslim majority population was created. During that time, a large number of people died in communal riots and lakhs of people were displaced.
