Assam: People panic as tremors felt following devastating fire at Baghjan gas well

A few mellow tremors were felt in Baghjan and Natun Gaon zone on Thursday following the monstrous fire at Oil India Limited (OIL’s) gas well in upper Assam’s Tinsukia area.
OIL’s well no. 5 at Baghjan in Tinsukia locale has been regurgitating gas wildly since May 27 and it burst into flames on Tuesday evening which transformed into inferno, killing two OIL firemen at the site.
OIL as a prudent advance have emptied the individuals from the towns. The townspeople have been moved to help camps, an authority said.
Fire tenders from Indian Air Force and ONGC are making a decent attempt to soak the blazes.
Armed force has been conveyed in the Baghjan region to forestall any untoward episode. The whole territory close to the demolition site was cordoned off by Army.
“The whole biodiversity of Baghjan was influenced because of the ceaseless regurgitating of gas and oil from the Baghjan 5 oil rig. Maguri-Motapung Beel, one of the biggest wetland has been influenced on account of the decimation.
“Wild bison which were spotted consistently at the Maguri-Motapung Beel were not seen after the annihilation. The creatures of the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park have additionally gone under danger,” said Bijay Gogoi, a neighborhood natural life lobbyist.
