Maharashtra News: Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar has announced that officers and employees in all government offices in Maharashtra will now compulsorily say ‘Vande’ instead of ‘Hello-Namaste’ on phone calls. Will start talking with ‘Vande Mataram’. He said that an official order regarding this would be issued soon.

The portfolios of ministers have been divided in Maharashtra on Sunday itself and Sudhir Mungantiwar has made this announcement minutes after he was made the minister of cultural affairs. He has said that, its purpose is to follow the indigenous word Vande Mataram by giving goodbye to the ‘foreign’ word hello. Mungantiwar said, “The country is celebrating the 75th anniversary of independence and in line with this it was decided that government employees will no longer say Namaste but will start a telephonic conversation with Vande Mataram.”

Minister said – Vande Mataram is not a song, it is a feeling

Mungantiwar said, Vande Mataram is not just a song but it is a symbol of the sentiments of Indians towards Mother India. This song, written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in the year 1875, enthused the freedom fighters of that time, expressing the spirit of ‘O Maa Aapko Naman’, Bankim Chandra lit the spark of patriotism in the hearts of many people. “Every single word of this composition evokes a sense of patriotism. The minister said that ever since the telephone came into existence in the year 1800, we are starting conversations with the word hello but now government employees in all offices in Maharashtra will start talking to Vande Mataram.
