INS Vikramaditya Fire: Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya has once again caught fire. This incident happened in Vikramaditya during the trial in the Arabian Sea near Karwar port in Karnataka on Wednesday. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished quickly and no casualty was reported.
According to the Indian Navy, INS Vikramaditya caught fire during the trial at sea. The crew members present in the aircraft carrier extinguished the fire somehow with the fire fighting equipment present in the ship. According to the Navy, there is no report of any casualty in this incident. The Navy has ordered a Court of Inquiry to investigate the matter.
According to the information, Vikramaditya was recently refitted at Karwar Naval Base. Only after the refit was the aircraft carrier taken to sea for sortie.
Incident of third fire on Vikramaditya
This is the third fire incident on Vikramaditya in the last three years. In the year 2019, a lieutenant commander rank officer was killed in a fire. A minor fire incident was also reported in 2021.
India bought Vikramaditya from Russia in the year 2013. In the Russian Navy it was known as Admiral Gorshokov. The Indian Navy currently has only one aircraft carrier. But next month the indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, will also become part of the Indian Navy’s combat fleet. Prime Minister himself in the Navy program on Monday Narendra Modi (PM Modi) had announced this.
