Amidst all these speculations, the Union Home Ministry has issued an order this afternoon that Sanjay Arora, a 1988 batch senior IPS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre and the current Director General of Police of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sanjay Arora will be the new Commissioner of Delhi Police.

How long will Sanjay Arora remain the Delhi Police Commissioner?
According to the order issued by the Union Home Ministry, Sanjay Arora will continue in this post till July 31, 2025. Sanjay Arora had previously served as a commandant in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police for 5 years, as well as his contribution to the elimination of Veerappan gang in Tamil Nadu.

This is the second time in a row in the Delhi Police that an external cadre police officer has been made the Commissioner of Police of Delhi. Earlier, Ajay Raj Sharma, a senior IPS officer of UP cadre, was made the Commissioner of Delhi Police, but after that again a Delhi Police cadre (UT) officer was made the Commissioner of Delhi Police.
