Wheelchair not loaded in the plane, the disabled passenger had to suffer

[ad_1]
Negligence: On behalf of the government, it is claimed to provide many facilities to the Divyangjan. In fact, the ground reality is far from this. Something similar has happened with Delhi-based businessman Ajay Gupta who is suffering from polio since childhood.
Ajay alleges that on Tuesday, he traveled from Delhi to Mumbai. During the journey, Ajay takes his wheelchair with him. Normally their wheelchair is loaded into the plane’s cargo and they find their wheelchair outside the plane at their destination.
But when he reached Mumbai airport on Tuesday, he was told that his wheelchair would be found in the belt area. But after waiting half an hour in the belt area too, he was told that his wheelchair had been left behind at the Delhi airport.
,i can’t go anywhere without a wheelchair,
Ajay Gupta said, “I cannot go anywhere without a wheelchair. Whenever I travel by plane, there is always a helper with me who dismantles the wheelchair and gives it to the airport staff, the same thing happened on Tuesday but my wheelchair was not loaded in the plane’s cargo. Wheelchair has become a part of my body. It was as if my body was in Mumbai and my legs were kept in Delhi.”
One of the successful businessmen of Delhi
Ajay Gupta, a resident of Pitampura, Delhi, is counted among the successful businessmen of Delhi. Ajay also runs diagnostic and production houses from education. Ajay says that his company has a turnover of more than 100 crores. In connection with his business, he often has to travel to different cities of the country.
,wheelchair The first time the event of leaving happened,
Ajay says, “During the journey, different problems keep coming. Late arrival of a wheelchair at the airport or a breakdown of a wheelchair, sometimes the handle breaks, sometimes the button breaks, but this is the first time that a wheelchair has been left in another city. The sad part is that when I asked the airport staff for another wheelchair, they had no solution. Rather, they have to look at my feet to see if I can’t really stand on my feet. But despite this they did not give any solution.”
what is the rule,
According to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act-2016 (whose rules are followed by DGCA), at the time of booking the ticket, the handicapped have to tell that they have to carry a wheelchair. Ajay had also told while booking the ticket that he is suffering from polio and he has to travel in his wheelchair.
Ajay Gupta said, “My demand is that the wheelchair may accidentally break, it may disappear, but for some time you can give a manual wheelchair in its place. Now there is a need to bring awareness among the airport staff for such matters, and a concrete policy should be made. DGCA guidelines need to be strictly followed. If this does not happen, then we will lock the Divyangs of our own country in their homes. They will imprison themselves in the house due to fear and lack of facilities.
Had to buy a new wheelchair for Rs 48,000
Ajay alleges that he was provided with a broken wheelchair at the airport as well. Ajay says that when the airport staff expressed their inability to help, he had to buy a new wheelchair from Mumbai itself for Rs 48,000, after which he could do further work in Mumbai.
Ajay Gupta said, “After raising this issue, now I am getting calls from Delhi airport to take the missing wheelchair but I have not taken it yet because I want the government and air travel organizations to hear my voice first. And what happened to me should not happen to anyone else.
Let us tell you that on May 19, Ajay Gupta went from Delhi to Mumbai on an Air India flight (AI-887). He had boarded the flight from Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport.
