Vice President Election Result: NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar has won the Vice Presidential election. Opposition’s Vice Presidential candidate Margaret Alva has congratulated Jagdeep Dhankhar on winning the election. He tweeted that, “Congratulations Jagdeep Dhankhar on being elected as the Vice President. I want to thank all the leaders of the opposition and the MPs of all parties who voted for me in this election.”
She further added, “I would also like to thank all the volunteers for their selfless service during our short but intense campaign. This election is an opportunity for the opposition to work together, leave the past behind and build trust between each other. Unfortunately, some opposition parties chose to directly or indirectly support the BJP in an attempt to derail the idea of a united opposition.”
What did Margaret Alva say?
Margaret Alva tweeted that, “I believe these parties and their leaders have damaged their reputation by doing this. This election is over. Protect our Constitution, strengthen our democracy and restore the dignity of Parliament.” The fight to do so will continue. Jai Hind.”
Jagdeep Dhankhar defeated by a huge margin
BJP-led NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar has won the election by defeating opposition candidate Margaret Alva in the Vice Presidential election. The former Governor of West Bengal got 528 out of the total 725 valid votes. Margaret Alva got 182 votes. Differences have also been seen between the opposition in this election. Trinamool Congress (TMC) had announced to stay away from the Vice Presidential election. However, two TMC MPs have voted.
