Unpaid for 7 months, Assam mid-day meal women workers stage protest

Over a hundred women employed under Assam’s mid-day meal scheme were up in arms on Friday to demand the release of their pending salaries. The women staged a protest in the premises of the office of the Block Elementary Education Officer in Baksa’s Goreswar town. Protestors claimed that the employees are yet to receive salaries for over 7 months. A memorandum has also been submitted to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma demanding the release of their pending salaries before Durga Puja.
