The foxes must reduce their roster before their first group match against Zorya Luhansk October 22.Winger Demarai Gray and defender Daniel Amartey they are among those who stay outside. Gray is still characteristic of foxes in the Premier League this season and has been linked with a move away from the club. Amartey has started last two games of the Premier League, but was replaced with a hamstring injury during Sunday’s defeat against West Ham United.
Less surprising is the absence of Filip Benkovic, Matty James and Islam Slimani of the squad.
Benkovic and James could join the club on loan EFL before the domestic transfer deadline on 16 October, while expected Slimani officially leave the King Power Stadium soon.
A team is allowed up to 25, but four of them have to be trained players of the club, of which only have three Harvey Barnes City, Hamza Choudhury and Dewsbury-Hall.
As a result of Brendan Rodgers can only name a squad of 24 players for the competition, although it can be corrected if foxes reach the second round.
