The Gauhati High Court has granted bail for Akhil Gogoi in 3 cases

The Gauhati High Court has conceded bail to RTI activist and farmers’ ‘ association Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) pioneer Akhil Gogoi in 3 cases.

“The cases in Chabua police headquarters held up against Gogoi, in which he has been conceded bail, are 293/2019, 296/2019 and 307/2019,” Akhil Gogoi’s attorney Krishna Gogoi disclosed to Northeast Now on Thursday.

In the event that the court awards bail to the KMSS pioneer in two different cases including one case stopped by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and no new body of evidence is recorded against him, he will have the option to come out of the prison.

The two different cases, wherein Akhil Gogoi is yet to get bail, are NIA case No 13/19 and case No 1/20 held up in Chabua police headquarters.

The RTI dissident’s attorney educated that July 20 has been fixed as the following date of hearing in one of the cases.

KMSS pioneer Gogoi, who has been in prison throughout the previous 8 months, as of late tried positive for COVID19 in Guwahati Central Jail. He is as of now experiencing treatment in Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

Prior, GMCH director Dr Abhijit Sarma said the state of Gogoi was “steady”. He tried positive for the infection, only two days after his examples were discovered negative for COVID19.

“There are presently no side effects of Coronavirus in him and he is an asymptomatic patient,” Dr Sarma had said.
