India On Pak Over Chess Olympiad: Pakistan withdrew from the 44th Chess Olympiad to be held in Chennai. India has given a strong reaction to Pakistan for objecting to passing the torch from Kashmir. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has said that it is very shocking that after sending its team to India, Pakistan suddenly announced not to participate in the 44th Chess Olympiad. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that as far as his argument is concerned, we will say that Kashmir was, is and will remain an integral part of India.
India slams Pak for withdrawing from Olympiad
After Pakistan withdrew from the 44th Chess Olympiad, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that the announcement of not participating in the prestigious event like Church Olympiad after his team reached India was surprising. It is very unfortunate that Pakistan politicized the prestigious international event. He said Kashmir is and will remain an integral part of India. Let us tell you that Pakistan has been furious about passing the torch through Kashmir and decided to withdraw its name from this sporting competition.
Pak furious over Olympiad torch
Actually the torch of the Olympiad had passed through Kashmir on 21 July. This provoked Pakistan and decided not to participate in this competition. Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar, in a statement to Radio Pakistan, cited India’s torch relay via Kashmir on July 21 as the reason, saying India politicized the prestigious international sporting event.

Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Asim Iftikhar also said that Pakistan was invited to participate in the Chess Olympiad on behalf of the International Chess Federation. Pakistani players were also being prepared for this.
