Matar accused of attacking Salman Rushdie did not confess

New York State Police said the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested Matar on Friday on charges of attempted murder and assault. Meanwhile, Chautauqua County Executive Paul Wendell said in a statement that he wishes Rushdie a speedy recovery on behalf of all local residents.
Police called the attack disappointing

Matar attacked Rushdie by climbing onto the stage
