Matar accused of attacking Salman Rushdie did not confess

Attack on Salman Rushdie: Hadi Matar, accused of attacking famous novelist Salman Rushdie with a knife, has not confessed his crime. Matar, a 24-year-old from New Jersey, has been charged with attempted murder and assault. New York State Police officials said Matar has not pleaded guilty and is being held in the Chautauqua County Jail.

New York State Police said the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested Matar on Friday on charges of attempted murder and assault. Matar has been sent to the Chautauqua County Jail after being taken to a police office. Meanwhile, Chautauqua County Executive Paul Wendell said in a statement that he wishes Rushdie a speedy recovery on behalf of all local residents.

Police called the attack disappointing

It’s disappointing that we live in a society where we can’t listen to the different views of others, especially a place like an institute, where thinkers from all over the world come to share their experiences. Matar attacked Rushdie by climbing onto the stage

Mumbai-born and Booker Prize winner Rushdie was about to begin his lecture during an event at the Chautauqua Institute in western New York when the accused climbed onto the stage and punched Rushdie. Killed and attacked with a knife. Rushdie has been taken off the ventilator and is feared to have lost an eye. His liver has also been damaged after the knife attack.
