All eyes on meeting Sonia Gandhi
Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Delhi is important in view of the heightened tension between the Congress and the Trinamool. Everyone’s eyes are fixed on whether he meets Sonia Gandhi or not. In fact, after the ruling Trinamool in West Bengal alleged that it did not consult while deciding a joint candidate for the Vice Presidential election, its tussle with the Congress has increased. However, it is not yet decided whether she will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi or not.

The primary objective of Banerjee’s visit to Delhi is to participate in the meeting of the NITI Aayog on 7 July. However, before this, Mamta has been absent in such meetings on several occasions. He had alleged that it (NITI Aayog) does not have any financial power and it does not help the state’s plans. Mamta will reach Delhi around 2 pm.

Party sources said Banerjee’s visit to Delhi will boost the morale of TMC MPs who are spearheading the protests against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government. It is noteworthy that among the 27 Trinamool MPs, seven members of the Rajya Sabha have also been suspended.
