Sanjay Raut To Be Produced In Court Today: The ED custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who was arrested in the money laundering case, ends today. He will be produced in the special court of ED today. Let us tell you that the ED had arrested Raut on Sunday (July 31) night in a case related to alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a chawl in Mumbai.
The ED had produced Raut on Monday (August 1) in a special PMLA court and sought 8-day custody. However, the judge, after hearing the arguments of the defense and the prosecution, said, “There is no need for the long custody of eight days.” I am of the opinion that if the accused is sent to custody till August 4, it will be sufficient for the purpose.
ED made this claim in court
The ED, while seeking the custody of Sanjay Raut, claimed that Raut and his family received Rs 1 crore as proceeds of crime from alleged irregularities in the redevelopment project of a chawl in Mumbai. According to the ED, the case pertains to irregularities in the redevelopment of Patra ‘Chawl’ in suburban Goregaon and transaction of financial assets, involving his wife and their alleged associates. Sanjay Raut, however, claimed that the allegations against him are vague and have been leveled with a sense of political vendetta.
Accused of threatening female witness
Along with this, a woman witness in the money laundering case on Sunday filed a case against Raut under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, claiming that she has been threatened. The police have invoked sections 504 (outrage with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (outrage to the dignity of woman) of the Indian Penal Code in the case registered against Raut. . The police had recorded the statement of the complainant on Monday. Security has been provided to the complainant on his request.
Uddhav Thackeray in support of Raut
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has expressed full support for Sanjay Raut. Said on Monday (August 1) that he was proud of Raut, as he did not bow down to any pressure. Along with this, he targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that it is doing politics of vengeance.
