Interstate drug smugglers’ gang busted, 190 kg ganja worth 4 crore recovered

NCB Seized Drugs In Mumbai: Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau is once again in the limelight after the transfer of NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede. Mumbai NCB has arrested 4 people with 190 kg of ganja from Bhiwandi area. In this action, two cars of drug smugglers have also been seized. This 190 kg of drugs were being supplied to Mumbai and nearby pubs, disco thaks and drug bases.

All the accused arrested by NCB are residents of Mumbai. The accused were involved in the smuggling of ganja and other narcotics for the last 5 years in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai such as Mulund and Bhandup. A few days ago, this gang had ordered a huge quantity of ganja from Odisha to Mumbai. NCB got information about this through its sources. Under this, NCB officials were keeping an eye on the activities of the suspected accused for the last few months.

Arrest on the basis of secret information
According to the NCB officials, after receiving the confirmed information about drug smuggling, the NCB formed different teams and laid a trap. After NCB came to know that this gang was carrying stock of drugs, NCB laid a trap and confiscated the drug from Bhiwandi toll naka.

Was involved in smuggling business for the last five years
When the accused was questioned, he was not giving satisfactory answers. During this intensive search of their vehicles was done. 190 kg of ganja was found in the car. This ganja was kept hidden by making a cavity in a special place in the car. Meanwhile, when the NCB officials interrogated these accused, they first admitted to being involved in drug smuggling. Investigation revealed that this accused is a vicious smuggler and it is said that he was in the business of illegal drug smuggling for the last 5 years.

Where were the drugs being sourced from?
In the investigation of NCB, it was also found that this drug was imported by this gang especially from states like Andhra Pradesh and Orissa. This gang used to supply drugs for delivery to many local peddlers in and around Mumbai. NCB is investigating further in this matter. Investigation is being done to find out which drug peddlers of Mumbai and surrounding areas were in contact with them and where they were supplying drugs.
