Digital Desk, Bangalore. The internal strife in the Congress has increased over the leadership dispute in Karnataka. After declaring his candidature for the chief minister’s post, state Congress president D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday asked leaders to shut their mouths and focus on bringing the party back to power in the state. Shivakumar said, if you have real respect for the party, then stop worshiping individuals and worship the party. Focus on getting more people to the party. All leaders organize their communities and bring Congress to power in Karnataka.
He criticized the statement of Congress MLA and Siddaramaiah’s close aide Jamir Ahmed Khan that the Muslim community has more voters than the Vokkaliga community and that he too is in the race for the chief minister’s post. He said, the post of CM is not vacant yet. Everyone should close their mouth. I am telling this to everyone. Shivakumar defended his statement expressing his desire to become the CM and said there was no harm in any candidate aspiring to become the CM of the 224 assembly constituencies in the state.
Congress Party Campaign Committee chairman M.B. Patil had earlier said that he would not identify himself with the Shivkumar camp or the Siddaramaiah camp as he had his own identity. Congress insiders said Shivakumar’s statement has been refuted by party leaders, which is creating more confusion in the present circumstances.
