Protest At Six Places On The Streets : Indefinite picketing will start on six roads in Punjab from tomorrow over the arrears of sugarcane farmers and all the problems. This sit-in demonstration is being organized under the non-political banner of the United Kisan Morcha.

Giving information about this, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that 17 organizations are cooperating in the front, which will hold their demands by demonstrating on the streets. The reason for the protest is the non-fulfilment of the promise by the government. First of all, he has demanded to pay the remaining 420 crores of sugarcane farmers.

This is the main demand of the front

At present, sugarcane farmers owe Rs 420 crore, of which 300 crore is on private sugar mills, the rest to be paid by cooperative sugar mills. According to the front, a meeting was held with the Chief Minister on May 17.

In which it was assured that the arrears would be paid by July 16. Only 100 crores has been paid in so many days. The amount due during the meeting was Rs 520 crore. Now the farmers are being told that the remaining amount will be given in installments. While the farmers are demanding lump sum payment.

Along with this, compensation is also being sought for paddy and cotton crop destroyed by rain, white fly and pink bollworm or pink worm. Farmer organizations are also engaged in mobilizing the farmers for these demands.

Martyr farmers did not get compensation, cases not canceled

The farmer families who were martyred in the movement to protest against the three agricultural laws have not yet received compensation and jobs. At the same time, the cases filed by Punjab Police and Railway Police during the agitation have also not been canceled. Jagjit Dallewal says that the government had promised, but has not fulfilled it yet, that is why picketing demonstrations are being started.
