Shamshabad Masjid Khwaja Mahmood: There has been a huge uproar after the demolition of Masjid-e-Khaja Mahmood in Shamshabad, adjoining Hyderabad, Telangana. The Masjid-e-Khaja Mahmood in Green Avenue Colony in Shamshabad was demolished by Shamshabad Municipal Corporation officials at around 3:30 am on Tuesday morning with heavy police arrangements. It is being told that the mosque was built about three years ago. People say that five times prayers including Friday prayers were being offered regularly in the mosque for two years.
Illegal construction case filed in court
At the same time, local residents who come from other communities had complained about the mosque to the Shamshabad city authorities. Also, a case of illegal construction of mosque is filed in the court. The Muslim community alleges that the authorities of Shamshahad Nagar, meanwhile, demolished the mosque with heavy police arrangements.
The matter caught political tension
Now this matter has become political. MBT spokesperson Amjad Ullah Khan dragged Telangana Home Minister Mahmood Ali and Telangana State Waqf Board in this matter and accused the state government of hurting religious sentiments. Khan said that the Telangana government led by K Chandrashekhar Rao is the CM of UP. Yogi Adityanath K is following in the footsteps of “Bulldozer Raj”. Meanwhile, AIMIM MLA Kausar and party supporters offered prayers and demonstrated at the site of the mosque on Wednesday. In view of this, the police imposed precautionary section 144 in the area and took them into custody.
AIMPLB issued statement on the matter
Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, general secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, said in a press note, “It is less regrettable that the Telangana government killed “Masjid Khwaja Mahmood” overnight in Shamshabad, adjacent to Hyderabad city. This is a very sad and unbearable act for the Muslims, on the one hand the government claims sympathy for the minorities and on the other hand implements the bulldozer culture of Uttar Pradesh for the holy places of Muslims in Telangana. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board strongly condemns this and demands the government to get the mosque reconstructed here without any delay.
