Garena Free Fire banned in India, see full list of 54 apps: The Indian government has reportedly banned over 50 smartphone apps in the country, which are likely to have their roots in China. This is not the first time that the government has banned a group of Chinese apps, as it banned 270 mobile apps in 2020. As of now, there is no official list of new banned apps, but rumors are suggesting that the list also includes Garena Free Fire. Fire, a popular smartphone game, and some previously banned apps that reappeared as clones.

As seen in the tweet above, 50 more apps have reportedly been banned by the Indian government. The new ban includes apps that were previously banned but re-introduced as clones. ET Now has not provided the complete list of banned apps in India. The list of over 50 banned apps in India also includes Garena Free Fire as the game has been taken down from google play store and apple app store. Chinese company Tencent has a significant part of Free Fire’s parent company, which could be a reason behind the ban. However, it is not clear whether the free fire has been removed due to the government’s ban or for any other reason altogether.

According to ANI, a total of 54 Chinese apps have been banned in India. The list includes beauty cameras: Sweet Selfie HD, Beauty Camera – Selfie Camera, Equalizer and Bass Booster, Camcard for Salesforce Ant, Isoland 2: Ashes of Time Light, Viva Video Editor, Tencent Exrier, Onmoji Chess, Onmoji Arena, Applock, Dual Space Light. Sources told ANI that these apps are “a threat to India’s security.
The government had banned PUBG games in the past.
Earlier, the Indian government had banned popular apps like TikTok and PUBG Mobile in the country. PUBG Mobile has resurfaced as BGMI and TikTok is also rumoured to be back in the country soon. That being said, it will be interesting to see which all apps the government has banned this time except Garena Free Fire. The sudden disappearance of games on both iOS and Android platforms in India to Free Fire By Garena has raised some questions among the gaming community. The app is not available for download from February 12. Garena has not given any specific reason for removing the app from Google Play.

In 2020, the Indian government banned more than 200 Chinese apps including TikTok, PUBG Mobile, UC Browser, CamScanner under Section 69A of the IT Act 2000. These apps were described as a threat to India’s sovereignty. The existing banned apps were also acting as clones of the banned Chinese apps, against which an Indian government has taken this action.
