Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on Monday guided the Transport Department to put DTO Kamrup Metro and three others under suspension for abnormalities in engine vehicle charge.
The Department on course of the vehicle serve has set Arun Bora, DTO; Simanta Neog, Head Assistant; Arup Kumar Barman, Junior Assistant and Sidhheshwar Ranghang, Cashier, all workers of the DTO Office, Kamrup Metro, under suspension with prompt impact.
Event of abnormalities with respect to affidavit of engine vehicle charge went to the notification of the Transport Department. A request was promptly directed to investigate the issue. It was found that tax avoidance was being permitted by the DTO Kamrup Metro, wherein a vehicle proprietor could pay the current year charge by skirting the arrear. This was contrary to the guidelines.
The Commissioner of Transport has been told to lead a point by point investigation into the issue.
