Delhi Government: Delhi Deputy CM and PWD Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday reviewed the progress of various projects for construction of new hospitals under PWD approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee. The PWD Minister also inaugurated the Indira Gandhi Hospital located at Siraspur, Jwalapur, Madipur, Hastsal (Vikaspuri) as well as Dwarka Sector-9 and 7 new semi-constructed ICU beds with a capacity of 6836 ICU beds. An 11-storey state-of-the-art hospital is being constructed in Jwalapuri by the Delhi Government with a capacity of 1164 beds, as well as a 2-storey basement in this building. Officials said that the construction work of the hospital is almost half complete. The plan slowed down a bit due to the halt of construction work due to Corona and pollution last winter, but this hospital will be ready in the early months of 2024.

In which areas is the Delhi government building hospitals?
Delhi government is building a 10-storey hospital in Jwalapuri, Madipur and Hastasal (Vikaspuri) with a capacity of 691 beds each. 50% of the work of hospitals being built in Jwalapur and Madipur has been completed and the work of building hospitals in Hastsal is also fast. The construction work of these three hospitals will be completed by 2023. All these hospitals also have 2 floor basement.

In Dwarka Sector 9 Indira Gandhi Hospital, the government is constructing 3 hospital blocks with a capacity of 1241 beds. Here 9 storey ward block, 6 storey OPD and 6 storey emergency block are being constructed, here in all three blocks 2 storeys are being constructed. There is also a basement. The construction work of this hospital is almost complete which will be completed by the end of this year.

Where and how much capacity are the hospitals being built?
In order to fight critical cases as well as epidemics like corona, the Delhi government is preparing 7 semi-permanent hospitals with a capacity of 6836 ICU beds. Under this project, the government will have a 4-storey hospital in Shalimar Bagh with a capacity of 1430 beds, a 5-storey hospital at Kirari with a capacity of 458 beds, a 4-storey hospital with a capacity of 527 beds at Sultanpur, a 5-storey hospital with a capacity of 1912 beds in GTB complex. It is constructing a 5-storey hospital with a capacity of 596 beds at Chacha Nehru Children’s Hospital in Geeta Colony, a 5-storey hospital with a capacity of 336 beds at Sarita Vihar and a 4-storey hospital with a capacity of 1577 beds at Raghuveer Nagar.

Where are the hospitals being built?
Officials said that construction work has started at all these places and soon all these ICU hospitals will be ready. On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed the officials that all these construction works should be completed on time and all the quality standards should be ensured here. He said that new hospitals are being prepared by the government. Will prove to be a milestone and will work to increase our health resources.
