Maharashtra: Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde In a scathing attack on Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray, on Sunday said that the issue of sharing the chief minister’s post with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the 2019 elections could have been resolved through talks.
Shinde, while addressing a rally in Aurangabad district, said that some people had taken an “obstinate stand” after the elections, which meant that they did not want to form the government with the BJP even though both the parties had got the mandate. .
Targeting Uddhav Thackeray
Without naming Thackeray, the Chief Minister said that some people said that Shiv Sena should get the chief minister’s post for the first two and a half years. If this condition is accepted only then the talks between the two parties (Shiv Sena and BJP) can proceed to form the government.
He said that this obstinate stand meant that he did not want to form the government with the BJP even though both the parties fought and won the assembly elections together. Shinde said that soon after the election results some people started talking that different options were available. Shiv Sena MLAs were not in favor of forging an alliance with the Congress and the NCP.
BJP made Nitish Kumar as CM
The Maharashtra CM said that the BJP kept its promise to make Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister of Bihar despite winning more seats than the Janata Dal (United). Shinde said the BJP could have taken the chief minister’s post in the current government headed by him.
He asked that the BJP leadership told me that despite the party having more MLAs than Shinde faction, it is ready to make him the chief minister. If we had made any promise in 2019 (referring directly to BJP), we would have honored it. Now you tell me who is telling the truth.
