The community-based child protection programme of UNICEF Assam is implemented across 167 tea gardens in 3 tea- intensive districts of upper Assam region, namely, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Sivasagar. The programme has been able to mobilize more than 20,000 adolescent girls of 10- 19 years through 250 Adolescent Girls Groups (AGGs), and 167 tea garden- based Child Protection Committees (CPCs) comprising of more than 2000 field level duty bearers and stakeholders as Members of these CPCs from the tea gardens.
The film showcases various pieces of this multi- stakeholder and community based programme that UNICEF implements in Assam in partnership with the private sector (the Tea Industry), Government agencies and technical resource agencies to address the cycle of social exclusion and inequity faced by children and adolescents of tea communities in Assam.
