CBI Booked ITBP Commandant: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against three other personnel including a commandant and a private person for allegedly duping the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) of lakhs of rupees in horse-trading. CBI also raided seven places in this case.
According to CBI spokesperson RC Joshi, the then Commandant of the 23rd Battalion posted in Dehradun, Ashok Kumar Gupta, the then Sub-Inspector Sudhir Kumar posted there, Assistant Sub-Inspector Anusuya Prasad and a private person named Sajjad are involved in this case. Apart from this, the names of unknown government and private persons have been included in the FIR.
Allegations of scam regarding supplies
In this case it is alleged that the accused officers and employees of ITBP colluded with the contractors, suppliers by criminal conspiracy. Under this, the records of the wet canteen running inside the ITBP were rigged. Also the payment for the said purchase was shown on the letter heads of the suppliers.
ITBP suffered a loss of Rs 16 lakh
In addition to the canteen, further investigation found that the record of receipt of kerosene oil was also rigged, as instead of receipt of one tanker of kerosene oil, receipt of 2 tankers was shown in the record. Due to this, ITBP suffered an alleged loss of Rs 16 lakh.
CBI raids at many places
After registering a case in this case, the CBI raided the houses and offices of the accused in Patna, Jehanabad and Saran in Bihar, besides in Dehradun in Uttarakhand and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The goods recovered during the raid are being assessed, the investigation of the matter is going on.
