Assam State gets two more COVID-19 testing labs

Assam State gets two more COVID-19 testing labs: State Health Minister Himanta Bishwa Sarma today inaugurated two new labs that will add teeth to the health department’s testing capabilities after seeing the Kovid-1p epidemic. The 14th ICMR-approved laboratory in the state was inaugurated at the State Cancer Institute of GMCH, another molecular virology laboratory was inaugurated at the Dr. B. Boroh Cancer Institute.

“COVID-19 has given us an opportunity to be more alert, and prepared for future. I am glad out teams worked overtime to put the best in place. At State Cancer Institute of Gauhati Medical College I launched Assam’s 14th ICMR approved lab, which bolsters our testing ability,” Sarma tweeted.
As per the latest available figures as many as 948 Assam Police personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 till date and of them 599 have so far recovered.

“We’ve unfortunately lost two colleagues till date,” tweeted Additional Director General of Police (law and order) GP Singh on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration said that the line departments are leaving no stone unturned to enforce the sanisatistion guidelines across Guwahati, especially the marketplaces.

“Our teams are monitoring the situation round the clock and necessary action has been taken,” sources said.
