Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022: Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu has given India a gold medal on the second day of the Commonwealth Games 2022. She won the first gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in the weightlifting event in the women’s 49kg category. Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Mirabai Chanu lifted 88 kg in snatch and made a best effort of 113 kg in clean and jerk. Mirabai lifted a total of 201 kg.

This has also been a Commonwealth Games record. This is India’s first gold and third overall medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
