Assam Public Works (APW) on Monday demanded 100 percent reverification the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the elections of 2021. The state Assembly APW is the first applicant to the Supreme Court which has triggered the NRC update process.
“We can not accept the NRC in its current form. So we offer 100 percent verification of NRC and the omission of all illegal voters register for the voters list and flawless without error. The process can be completed within six months and until then parliamentary elections (scheduled for 2021) may be delayed, such as postponing BTAD elections because of the outbreak of coronavirus earlier this year, “Abhijeet Sharma President of the average worker, said support while meeting Guwahati.
The APW also alleged that the names of over 80 lakh illegal voters were included in the final NRC. Sharma said the full year NRC went in vain. He urged the State at a time, and the state government to submit affidavits to the Supreme Court and start the process of re-verification of the NRC. He also regretted that despite six affidavits were submitted by APW on the Supreme Court since mid-2018, nothing has been done with regard to reverification NRC.
