Mallikarjun Kharge Seat Controversy: Draupadi Murmu was on Monday sworn in as the 15th President of India in the Central Hall of Parliament. However, controversy erupted at the ceremony and a letter was submitted by the opposition parties to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha alleging disrespect to Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge. The Congress and several other opposition parties on Monday claimed that at the swearing-in ceremony of President Draupadi Murmu, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, was made to sit on a seat which was not in conformity with the dignity of his post.
He also wrote a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu claiming that a senior leader has been deliberately disrespected, about which he expresses surprise and protest. Sharing this letter on Twitter, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that many opposition parties including Congress, Trinamool Congress have written letters to Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu.

In the letter, these parties said, “Today, at the swearing-in ceremony of the President, Mallikarjun Kharge was made to sit on a seat which is not in accordance with the dignity of his office. We write to express our protest on this insult shown to the senior leader. are.”
