Another step towards self-reliance, laser-guided anti-tank missile successfully test-fired

DRDO Laser-Guided ATGM Test: India has achieved another success in the direction of self-reliance. DRDO today successfully test-fired indigenously developed Laser-Guided Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM). This test of Laser-Guided Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) was done by DRDO and Indian Army. The country’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated the DRDO and the Indian Army on this success.

This test has been successfully conducted from Main Battle Tank (MBT) Arjun in collaboration with Armored Corps Center and School (ACC&S) Ahmednagar at KK Range in Maharashtra. The missiles struck with precision and successfully struck targets at two different ranges.

The ATGM has been developed with multi-platform launch capability and is currently undergoing technical evaluation trials with 120 mm rifled gun of main battle tank (MBT) Arjun. The Laser Guided ATGM Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) uses a tandem High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead to defeat protected armored vehicles.

Successful test of anti-tank guided missile

With today’s trials, the stability of the Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM)’s capability to engage targets in a minimum to maximum range has been successfully established. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has praised DRDO and Indian Army for the successful demonstration of Laser Guided ATGM. On the other hand, Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO, G Satheesh Reddy congratulated the teams involved in the test firing of the Laser Guided ATGM.
