The eleventh commemoration of the UK and Europe’s biggest South Asian film celebration, bolstered by the Bagri Foundation and the British Film Institute (BFI) was held internet during the worldwide pandemic this year.
Assam conceived Actor Adil Hussain was deliberated with the ‘Exceptional Achievement Award 2020’ at the online Film Festival by BFI. The celebration incorporated a few LGBTQ+ films, ladies helmed films, films from Sri Lanka and Pakistan, just as the humming Satyajit Ray Short Film rivalry, with a jury of prominent film intellectuals, who thought over Zoom.
Among the others, Deepa Mehta and Shabana Azmi were consulted with the ICON Achievement Award, Freida Pinto, Vidya Balan was deliberated with Outstanding Achievement.
In the interim, Mississippi Masala (1991) by Mira Nair, featuring Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury won the ‘Crowd Favorite’ Award followed by Satyajit Ray short film victor – Darling.
